Tbilisi: Giorgi Garibashvili, the Prosecutor General of Georgia meets Juan Mahiques in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Juan Mahiques is the President of the International Association of Prosecutors.
Georgia’s Prosecutor General met with other department representatives on the sidelines of the 29th annual conference of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) there. Besides the Prosecutor General, Deputy Prosecutor General Natia Merebashvili, as well as the Head of the International Relations and Legal Assurance Department, Irakli Chilingarashvili were also present on this occasion.
At the meeting the parties discussed measures to enhance future cooperation. The conversation also touched on the importance of Georgia’s long, fruitful relationship with the International Association of Prosecutors.
This will enable Georgia’s prosecutor’s office to change its workings according to international standards.It is also to be noted that in this context the 27th annual conference of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) was held in 2022.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia successfully hosted the 27th conference. At that conference all the attendees underlined the issues of Eastern Europe and Central Asia countries .
At the same meeting the officials of the International Prosecutor Office added that “The International Office of Prosecutor is working round the clock to ensure the smooth functioning of the judicial system of member countries.”
There are 183 agencies from 180 countries worldwide that are active members of the International Association of Prosecutors, along with many individual member prosecutors from different countries. Georgia’s prosecutor’s office is active member of the International Association of Prosecutors since 2011.
Since 2014 it has been actively participating in all the Association’s activities a testament to its commitment to international judicial cooperation. At the same time in May 2018 representatives from Georgia’s Prosecutor’s Office were elected to the executive committee of the IAP governing body.
In this way, Georgia’s prosecutor’s office is playing an active role in developing an active role to improve the judicial system in member countries as well.
