Georgia: The Under-20 European Championship which was held in Kaorle (Italy) was more successful for the Georgian Greco-Roman style wrestling team. Notably, the team was able to win medals in seven out of ten weight categories, and the Georgian national anthem was sung three times.
The Georgian National Olympic Committee (GNOC) shared the glimpses of the celebratory event on its official Facebook Page on July 4, 2025, Friday. The Olympic Committee also shared some information about the championship along with the photographs.
Alexander Rusitashvili (72 kg), who won all matches and climbed to the highest level of Kvartschlbek, achieved the best result for the Georgian Wrestling team. Future champion defeated Armenian representative Gaspar Terteriani 4-3 in a tense match for the gold medal.
The gold medal was also won by Anri Putkaradze (77 kg), who also won all the doubles. Putkaradze beat Azerbaijani Dawud Mamadov in a decisive match.
Luka Kochalidze (87 kg), who defeated Abdurakhman Abdulkadirov who competed on behalf of a neutral team in the final – 8-0 and sang the Georgian anthem.
Bronze medalists – Koba Karumidze (55 kg), Vakhtang Lolua (60 kg), Anri Khozrevanidze (67 kg), and Saba Purtseladze (130 kg) played an important role to advance in advancing the team ranking.
Finally, the Georgian team trained by Revaz Lashkhi scored 135 points with 3 gold and 4 bronze medals and took the team standings. Azerbaijan and Ukraine took the second and third places.
