Giorgi Khelashvili, First Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and Head of the Georgia-Argentina Friendship Group, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina, Patricia Beatriz Salas.
The sides discussed the main directions of cooperation between the two countries and the prospects for deepening inter-parliamentary ties. The focus was on strengthening bilateral economic relations, especially in the fields of agriculture and tourism. The topic of conversation was also the aggression carried out by Russia in Ukraine and the threats to Georgia and the Black Sea region as a whole.
Giorgi Khelashvili spoke to the Ambassador about the difficult human rights situation in the occupied regions and the steps taken by Russia towards annexation. He paid special attention to the policy of non-recognition of the occupied regions of our country.
During the meeting, they talked about the visit of the Georgian parliamentary delegation to Argentina and all the aspects that this visit included.
“During the meeting with the Ambassador, we talked, among other important issues, about the recent visits between our countries, including the visit of the Georgian parliamentary delegation to Argentina. We reviewed all the aspects that this visit covered and which is parliamentary cooperation in terms of sharing the experience of reforms. “We talked about regional security challenges as well as the challenges facing Georgia, Russian aggression, the international community’s response in this regard, and Argentina’s involvement in this,” Giorgi Khelashvili said.
It was noted during the meeting that the Argentine parliamentary delegation would pay a return visit to Georgia.
