Tbilisi: A city-based NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) Institute for development of freedom of information(IDFI) is all set to host an online lecture on corruption on July 30. The theme of the online seminar will be “Reforms to fight corruption on the way to Eurointegration: International Initiatives, obligations and Progress of Georgia.”
Taking to the social media handles the NGO’s official Facebook page stated “On July 30, at 12:00, IDFI is holding an online lecture and discussion on the topic “Reforms to fight corruption on the way to Eurointegration: International initiatives, obligations and progress of Georgia.”
It further stated “During the event, Georgia’s international obligations and involvement in international initiatives will be discussed as will the importance of good governance on the way to Eurointegration and reforms to fight corruption, the recommendations made by the European Commission in this regard, the progress of their implementation and the existing needs.”
The eradication of corruption is still an uphill task for the country’s law enforcement agencies. Although the agencies have been coordinating with other enforcement agencies the country is still suffering from the menace of corruption. The seminar will highlight the problem of corruption and how it is damaging the country’s overall development. The key speaker will discuss the various measures that can be implemented to tackle the issue of corruption.
Another important and significant objective of the online seminar is to spread awareness among the general public regarding corruption. The youth has a crucial role to play in corruption eradication. Similarly the Europan Commission has also recommended many measures necessary for the smooth European Integration of Georgia. The USAID public governance program is organizing the event.

The organisers of the event are expecting a large number of participants who will have the opportunity to share their personal views during the seminar.
