The Founder and Honorary Chairman of “Georgian Dream”, Bidzina Ivanishvili, hosted the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Azerbaijani delegation at the Business Center.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Bochorishvili, Head of Government Administration, Levan Zhorzholiani, and Ambassador Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataridze.
Bidzina Ivanishvili thanked Ilham Aliyev for a fruitful visit to Georgia and noted that the friendly relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan are at the highest point, which is beneficial for both countries.
Honorary Chairman of “Georgian Dream” emphasized the importance of a deep and comprehensive economic relationship of the two countries, the potential of maximizing the transit corridor, and noted that the close partnership serves equally to the national interests of Georgia and Azerbaijan.
Bidzina Ivanishvili thanked Ilham Aliyev for supporting the peaceful and stable situation in the South Caucasus region, and noted that in an environment filled with security challenges, it is vital that the political leaders of the two countries put their best efforts to maintain peace and economic development.
The meeting was about the close partnership in the energy sector and transport-energy projects jointly implemented by Georgia and Azerbaijan. Bako-Tbilisi-Karsi railway, which plays a key role in providing regional connections, was noted. Bidzina Ivanishvili noted that Georgia remains open to Azerbaijani investment, which has continued to grow actively in recent years.
Ilham Aliev thanked Bidzina Ivanishvili for the warm hospitality. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan noted that Georgia is one of the most attractive, stable, and interesting places for investment.
The President also focused attention on bilateral projects, the importance of the energy corridor, and the active involvement of Georgia in the export process of Azerbaijani natural resources. Ilham Aliyev confirmed his readiness to continue working jointly to maintain peace and stability in the region. Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Georgia is over.
