Ilia Darchiashvili discusses relations with Arab, Kuwaiti, Jordanian and Icelander counterparts at UNGA

Tbilisi: In discussions with his counterparts from the Arab, Kuwaiti, Jordanian, and Icelander countries on Saturday, the Georgian foreign minister Ilia Darchiashvili reviewed the agendas of cooperation and bilateral ties, according to the foreign ministry.

Tbilisi: In discussions with his counterparts from the Arab, Kuwaiti, Jordanian, and Icelander countries on Saturday, the Georgian foreign minister Ilia Darchiashvili reviewed the agendas of cooperation and bilateral ties, according to the foreign ministry.

Darchiashvili and Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud welcomed the “intensified cooperation” among both Georgia and Saudi Arabia in political, trade-economic, tourism, and other fields. The Georgian foreign minister felicitated Prince Faisal on Saudi Arabia’s national day and wished “peace and prosperity” to Saudi Arabia and its people.

In addition to praising the increased number of tourists from Kuwait to Georgia, Darchiashvili and Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah stressed the significance of “further deepening” connections in trade, business, and tourism and the requirement for holding an intergovernmental cooperation committee summit.

The 30th anniversary of the nations’ establishing diplomatic ties was also welcomed by the parties.

As they emphasised people-to-people links, Darchiashvili and his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, expressed their “readiness” to work “actively” to uphold and strengthen the ties between the two nations.

The parties praised Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s “historic” visit to the nation and meeting with King Abdullah II. They also appreciated Jordanian authorities’ gift of a plot of land’ in close proximity to the Jordan River to Georgia for the opening of a Georgian culture centre.

Darchiashvili and Iceland’s foreign minister pórdís Kolbrún R. Gylfadóttir made note of the value of mutual support in international settings and “agreeing” to “intensify” high-level communication. The 30th anniversary of Georgia and Iceland’s diplomatic ties was also celebrated with enthusiasm by the foreign ministers.
