The Ilia State University of Georgia has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Geo hospital. This will make the practical training possible for the medical students according to the standards and parameters of the Geo hospitals.
On behalf of the University the Rector of Ilia State University Nino Doborjginidze and Chancellor Ketevan Darakhvelidze were present during the signing ceremony. On the other hand the Deputy Director of Clinic “Geo Hospitals” Maia Maghlakelidze-Khomerik signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the hospital.
As per the terms and conditions of the memorandum of cooperation between both sides the students of Iliauni Medicine’s one-step graduate medical education program will undergo practical training based on Geo Hospitals. Moreover they will also have access to the appropriate number of patients (within “bedside teaching”) and diagnostic laboratories and surgery facilities being provided at the Geo hospitals.
Subsequent to the memorandum of cooperation Ivane Abiatar the head of Iliauni Medical School, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences Elene Zhuravliova, and the management of the clinic “Geo Hospitals” agreed to carry out joint research in medicine.
It is noteworthy that both sides held a wide discussion before signing this memorandum. They also discussed the possibility and scope of employment for the medical students after they complete their training here.
Both sides also stressed the need for practical training for the students. The participants of the meeting further agreed that every kind of assistance would be provided to make this a productive training session for all the students as well.
The Reactor of the university also expressed hopes that in the future more training sessions will be organized for the practical skill development of the medical students. This will make them eligible for the employment in growing job market.
The university students also expressed their gratitude to the administration for this memorandum of cooperation. They demanded that such training sessions be very useful and necessary for the overall practical experience and be held frequently.
It is to be added that the need for expert medical professionals is increasing across the globe. Moreover, expert paramedical staff are also in high demand in many European and Western countries.
