The people from across different region of Dusheti gathered together at Chargali village to remember Mikha Khelashvili. Every year an impressive event is held in village to commemorate death anniversary of national hero Mikha Khelashvili.
Mtskheta-Mtianeti administration while taking to their social media handles shares this information. The official Facebook page of Municipality stated, “An event dedicated to the 125th birth and 100th death anniversary of the national hero of Georgia, Mikha Khelashvili at Chargali, Dusheti. He was a member of the “Sworn Squad” of the people’s poet Kakutsa Cholokashvili.”
Many officials and government representative paid tribute to him on this occasion, along with the gathered public.
Some of the prominent figure included the State Trustee of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Davit Nozadze, his deputies, the head of the Youth Agency Vakhtang Baakashvili, the deputy mayor of Dusheti Municipality.

As per available information within the framework of the event, the Bishop of Tianeti and Pshav-Khevsureti, Rev. Mikael, together with other clergy, performed a funeral service in memory of Mikha Khelashvili.
The ensemble “Lasharela” performed several songs, and poets, writers and public figures gathered at the site read poems about the national hero and spoke about him. The relevant service of the Ministry of Défense of Georgia fired 25 ceremonial shots.
Notably Mikha Khelashvili, with his poetry, patriotism and dedication, left a significant mark both in folk art and in the history of country. He fought for the unity of the country, but his love for his homeland was not forgiven and he was brutally murdered at the age of 25.
It is gratifying that every year on January 25 more and more people, including many young people, gather in Chargali. Of course, we will continue this tradition in the future and always pay due respect to the memory of our national hero,” said Davit Nozadze while addressing on this occasion as well.
