India: PM Narendra Modi meets German Chancellor Olaf Scholz

New Delhi, India: The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, met the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in a joint press meeting at Hyderabad House where the officials discussed the relations that exist between India and Germany.

New Delhi, India: The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, met the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in a joint press meeting at Hyderabad House where the officials discussed the relations that exist between India and Germany. 

Hailing these relations, Indian Prime Minister Modi stated that India and Germany have really strong ties that are founded on mutual democratic values and an understanding of the common goals and interests. Additionally, the nations also share a cultural and economic history as well.

As PM Modi noted, India has a historical trade relationship with Germany being the biggest trading nation across Europe. Moreover, Germany is a vital source of investment in India. The parties also discussed bilateral, regional and international issues as well, during the joint press conference.

Further, PM Modi appreciated the ever-rising cooperation between the countries, which according to him, sends out a positive message to the world. 

“People-to-people relations have significantly been stronger between the two countries in the last few years. It is evident as new opportunities are opening up in all sectors due to the ‘Make in India’ and Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaigns. We’re really encouraged by Germany’s interest in these opportunities”, added Modi.

The discussions also touched on the matters of strengthening the security and defence cooperation between the nations.  

According to PM Modi, the countries have the potential to expand the cooperation in the defence sector, which will be an important aspect of the relations between India and Germany.’

Meanwhile, the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also took to Twitter, where he quoted that India and Germany share ‘very good relations’, and his intentions to further strengthen them in diverse aspects. 

Further, the German Chancellor is also scheduled to meet the Indian President, Droupadi Murmu as well.

Notably, the visit from Scholz is the first standalone visit by any German Chancellor since the commencement Inter-Governmental Consultation between India and Germany in 2011.
