Georgia: The Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia, Besik Amiranashvili, attended the opening event of the International Seasonal School-Camp – “Teaching Sustainable Development of Mountains” in Algeti National Park.
The Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia shared glimpses of the opening event on Sunday, September 14, 2025. The Agency also shared a small note about the event along with its glimpses.
The camp, opened in partnership with the Agency of Protected Areas, the Technical University, and international organizations, provides opportunities for students to engage in environmental projects, improve their knowledge, and develop practical skills.
Seasonal school unites students and young specialists, both from Georgia and abroad. Participation in the project, at the first stage, will be available to 30 students.
On the first day of the camp opening, young people visited the Visitor Center of Algeti National Park and received detailed information about the National Park. Over the next 5 days, participants will host international lectures and seminars on global mountain sustainability goals and international cooperation; youth will be given opportunities to learn about mountain sustainability challenges, learn about drone technology, and engage in hiking and field studies in a practical environment.
The camp, organized by the Faculty of Mountain Sustainable Development of the Technical University of Georgia, is funded under the CIF grant project, the Innovation Foundation SUSMAUN program, which gives special importance to the professional development of young people and deepening cooperation with international partners.
For the Agency of Protected Areas, the involvement of young people in the development of environmental education is one of the most important priorities.
The Agency actively participates in education projects and initiatives, including supporting camps, to encourage young generations to create environmental responsibility and promote sustainable development ideas in society.
