Mestia hosts the International Short Film and Mountain Film Festival for the third time promoted by the National Center of Cinematography of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia.
The opening event was attended by Bacho Odisharia, representative of the National Center for Cinematography, local self-government representatives, field specialists and invited guests.
The festival was opened with Zaza Khalvashi’s movie “Lotto”, which is a joint project of Georgia and Lithuania; Mestia’s choreographic ensemble “Riho” performed Georgian traditional songs.
From August 23 through August 26 viewers will view short films from Japan, France, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Kyrgyzstan, and more; the Mountain Film Section will feature feature films from Italy, Peru, Belgium, Morocco, India, Germany, Spain and Slovakia.
The festival is covered by international press – journalists from well-known film portals and print media from Canada, Germany and Korea.
On the second day of the festival, the short films section featured films: “Japanese Buddhism” (Japan), “Blaze” (France), “Legends of the Mountain” (Ireland), “Nur Shams” (Saudi Arabia), “Queen of the Mountain”(Kyrgyzstan), and in the mountain films section the viewers saw “On the top of the Mountain” and “Mountain Guides”.
