Tbilisi: The Embassy of Italy in the Republic of Georgia observed the Italian national unification day on Thursday. Along with it they celebrated the Italian Armed Forces Day in memory of those who have sacrificed their lives for the country.
The day is officially observed every year on November 4 throughout the country and worldwide. Â As per the statement of the Italian Embassy, they are feeling happy and proud to observe this day with the participation of a significant number of people.
The impressive event was held at the War Heroes Memorial in the Capital city of Tbilisi. Ambassador Massimiliano D’Antuono and Captain Gianfranco Vizzini attended. At the same time, the Defence Attaché of Italy in Azerbaijan and Georgia were also present and they paid homage and laid wreaths at the war memorial established in memory of Georgia’s fallen heroes.
The Italian Embassy in the Republic of Georgia shared this information on various social media handles and posted glimpses of this event on the embassy’s official Facebook page.
The series of events on this occasion included a reception ceremony, which was attended by officials from Georgia’s defence institutions. Other dignitaries included the number of Ambassadors and Military attaches of other countries present in Georgia as well.
In his address at the event the Italian Ambassador remembered the contribution of all those who had sacrificed their lives to protect Italy’s interests.
He also specifically mentioned the name of the President of Italy in his address. He underlined the role played by members of the Italian defence forces in maintaining peace at the national, regional and international levels.
According to him this is a need of time and the collective responsibility of all to maintain peace and contribute to the development of the country. The ambassador also urged attendees to work hard to fulfill the dreams of all those who sacrificed their precious lives to protect our future.
Other key speakers also expressed similar views. On the other hand social media users, reacting to the Embassy’s Facebook post extended best wishes for progress and the overall development of the country.
