Batumi, January 19, 2024: Kerki Ltd, a company that produces and sells dried fruits and nuts from organic sources, has opened a new store in Batumi, the capital of Adjara.

The store results from the company’s successful partnership with the USAID Agriculture Program, which has provided Kerki Ltd with technical and financial assistance to improve its production and marketing.

Kerki Ltd is based in Keda municipality, a mountainous area in Adjara, where it operates a processing facility that employs 15 local people. The company sources its raw materials from local farmers who grow fruits and nuts organically, without using chemicals or pesticides. Kerki Ltd offers a variety of products, such as dried apples, pears, plums, apricots, figs, walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, and mixed fruit and nut bars.

With the support of the USAID Agriculture Program, Kerki Ltd has upgraded its processing facility with modern equipment and technology, which has increased its production capacity and quality.

The new store in Batumi is part of Kerki Ltd’s strategy to expand its market share and reach more customers in Georgia and abroad. The store is located in a busy area of the city, attracting locals and tourists looking for natural and delicious products. The store also serves as a showcase for Kerki Ltd’s brand and values, which emphasize environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

The USAID Agriculture Program is a five-year initiative that aims to increase the competitiveness and resilience of Georgia’s agricultural sector, especially in the regions of Adjara, Guria, Imereti, Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Racha-Lechkhumi, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, and Samtskhe-Javakheti.

The program works with small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers to improve productivity, quality, and market access. The program also supports the development of value chains for high-potential crops, such as berries, stone fruits, vegetables, herbs, and nuts. Tetra Tech ARD implements the program in partnership with Agro-Insight, Georgia Farmers’ Association, and Mercy Corps.

The USAID Agriculture Program is one of the many assistance projects supported by the American people through USAID. Since 1992, the U.S. government has invested over $2 billion in Georgia through programs supporting democratic, economic, and social development.
