Tbilisi: Caucasus International University(CIU) organised the seminar on AIDS. This was held on December 8 at the University campus. International day of AIDS is marked every year on December 10 across the globe.
During the lecture, Professor Fati Gabunia addressed the attendees on the achievements and challenges of HIV/AIDS. Professor Fato Gabunia is an infection and Doctor of medicine and has a lot of experience in the field of viral and infectious diseases and their treatment.
A larger number of students attended the seminar to learn the latest developments in the field of AIDS, the latest data strategies, scientific research, etc.
At the meeting the key speaker spoke about infectious pathologies, the AIDS epidemic, statistics of the spread of HIV infection and ways to prevent it at the international level.
The biggest cause of AIDS is Unsafe sexual intercourse. Other reasons that contribute to the spread of the disease are multiple use of Injection syringe and transfusion of virus-affected blood to a healthy person, which can also make a healthy person victim of AIDS. If a mother is pregnant, then there is a probability that his child will also be AIDS affected.
The recent emergence of Natroctics use also added to the spread of This deadly disease. Drug addict uses a single syringe to inject the Drug into their body. This reuse of a single syringe makes every drug addict vulnerable to AIDS and other deadly diseases as well.
Key speaker of the event, Professor Fati Gabunia, stated that due to the non-availability of Effective treatment so far, raising awareness is the only way forward to tackle the disease. He also encouraged students to be part of awareness campaigns at the local regional and international levels to contribute to the effort for the elimination of Diseases.
Professor Fati Gabunia underlined the roles of educational institutions and other community organisations in raising awareness among the General Public. As per Professor Fati Gabunia students can play a significant role being part of awareness campaigns.
In recent years, the Spread of AIDS has caused great concern at the international level.Disease which some believe has its origin in Africa is still non-treatable. The scientific community is doing its best to find a permanent solution to this virus, which costs a large number of precious lives across the globe every year.
It is to be specifically mentioned that students of Georgian and English language programs of the Caucasus International University of Medicine attended this meeting. A presentation was also given to students to make them aware of the various aspects of the Disease.
