Georgia: The President of the Georgian National Olympic Committee (GNOC) or the SEOK President Leri Khabelov attended the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees on March 2, 2025, Sunday.
The Georgian National Olympic Committee shared the snippets of the General Assembly on its Official Facebook Page on March 2. GNOC also shared the details of the assembly along with the photographs.
According to the details shared by GNOC, it should be noted that the 54th General Assembly of European Olympic Committees ended in Frankfurt, Germany.
The participants of the General Assembly are:
- SEOK President Leri Khabelov,
- General Secretary Emzar Zenaishvili,
- SEOK Vice President Mamuka Khabareli,
- SEOK International Relations Service Chairman Rusudan Aptsiauri
The 54th General Assembly was also attended by others from “Bakuriani 2025” heads.
It is worth noting that the assembly was opened by the president of the German Olympic Committee Thomas Weikert. After the opening ceremony, the delegates were addressed by SOK President Thomas Bach and EOK President Spiro Capralos.
At the 54th General Assembly, for the next four years, they unanimously supported the candidacy of EOK’s current president, Spiro Capralos. It is noteworthy that Daina Gudzivenchute was re-elected as Vice President, Carlo Mornat was elected general secretary, and Peter Menelli was elected financial manager.
In addition, 12 members of the SEOK Executive Committee were elected, half of whom are new members. The newly elected executive committee has 6 women and 6 men.
The General Assembly discussed the agenda, which included presentations on upcoming major sporting events, as well as information on already held Olympic competitions. Specifically, about the Olympic Winter Games, which Italy will host in 2026. They also heard a report about “Paris 2024”.
At the 54th General Assembly, an official document was signed, and the Turkish city of Istanbul as the host city of the Fourth European Games in 2027 was approved. The Assembly heard information about the upcoming European Summer Youth Olympic Festival, which will be hosted in July 2025, in Macedonia’s capital Skopje.
Mamuka Khabareli, Chairman of the European Winter Youth Olympic Festival-Bakuriani 2025 Organizing Committee, and Deputy Chairman Zurab Dokkiashvili presented a detailed report on the General Assembly. It was noted at the assembly that Georgia hosted this important sports forum at the highest level.
