France: The Georgian Judoka, Luka Maisuradze won his 1st medal at the World Judo Tour, “Paris Grand Slam 2025.” The 2025 season of the World Judo Tour at the historic Paris Grand Slam was organized, from 01 February to 02 February in France, Paris.

It should also be noted that 112 judokas from 16 countries participated in the Paris Grand Slam 2025. Luka Maisuradze finishes the Paris Grand Slam 2025 with a silver medal.

The Paris Grand Slam is an international, judo competition held at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris, as part of the IJF World Tour Grand Slam series organized by the IJF.

It is worth noting that for Luka Maisuradze, it was a scary return to competition in the -90kg category with a first round loss in the Rome European Open toward the end of 2024. But following this he took an incredible silver medal in the Tokyo Grand Slam, and assisted his team Golden Gori to a bronze medal in the European Club Championships – Champions League in December.

Now returning to the World Judo Tour, the Paris Grand Slam, in the first match, he won a pure victory against Senegalese Rian Dacosta and in the semifinals he beat Japanese world champion Goki Tajika with wizards and got the right to compete in the final.

Korean Judoka Kim Jonghoon was his last opponent, a judoka quite fresh on the scene with no Grand Slam result to his name. Unfortunately, in the gold medal match Maisuradze lost to Korean Judoka and ended with a silver medal.

Georgian participants of the World Judo Tour:

  • Sofia Somkhishvili (+78 kg),
  • Zaur Dvalashvili (-81 kg),
  • Kote Kapanadze (-81kg),
  • Nika Kharazishvili (-90 kg),
  • Nikoloz Zaalishvili (-100 kg),
  • Saba Inaneishvili (+100 kg)
  • Irakli Demetrashvili (+100kg),

It is noteworthy that, except for Saba Inaneishvili, other Georgian Judokas were eliminated from the Grand Slam in the early stages. Saba Inaneishvili was the closest to the medal, but in the bronze final, he lost to Japanese Yuta Nakamura by Japan.
