Many NGOs’ and CSOs’ condemn police crackdown on social activists, politicians

Large number of Non-Governmental organizations as well civil society organizations of Georgia have come together to condemn police action.

Tbilisi: Large number of Non-Governmental organizations as well civil society organizations of Georgia have come together to condemn police action.

The Georgian police and other law enforcement agencies have launched a countrywide crackdown against the leader of opposition parties and social activists.

All these organisation have come on single platform to record her resentment.  They also issue a joint statement also in this regard. They are more than 20 local CSO who have signed this joint statement against police force.

In their joint statement official and representative of these organisation have called upon the Government agonies to release all people who have been arrested by law enforcement agencies.

Notably they have been arrested being part of ongoing protest against the government for suspension of talks on Georgia’s integration into European Union.

At the same time it also calls for the Central Election Commission (CEC) reforms and to conduct full investigation to brought all culprits to justice. Meanwhile in the same joint statement, all signatories calls the international partner of Georgia to take serious notice of this issues so that rights of common citizens of Georgia can be protected.

When Georgian Prime Minister announced to suspend its talks on Georgia integration into European Union on November, protesters went to streets against this decision of Government. They also blamed that this decision has been taken under Russian influence on foreign policy of Georgia.

The Georgian Association of Young Lawyers (GYLA) prominent watchdog organisation of Georgia also blamed the Georgian state agencies for unnecessary and excessive use of force against the innocent citizens as well.
