Georgia: The medical examination of presidents registered voluntarily in the military service for 6 months is actively underway in the Giorgi Abramishvili Military Hospital on March 27, 2025, Thursday.
It is worth noting that, this time, a medical examination was conducted by the senior citizens living in the regions of East Georgia, which is a necessary prerequisite for their military service.
The Ministry of Defence of Georgia shared glimpses of the medical examination event on its official Facebook page on March 28, 2025, Friday. The Defence Ministry also shared some details of the event along with its snippets.
Based on the conclusion of the Medical Commission, the presidents living in the regions of East Georgia will be deployed to the 4th Infantry Brigade in Vaziani and will undergo 8-week initial combat training, after which they will continue their 6-month National Military Service in the Combat Support and Combat Supply Subdivision in a daily regime.
Due to voluntary application before the call-up, they had the option of a 6, 8, or 11-month term of military service. Their deducted salary will be 765 GEL per month. In this case, because the previous ones registered voluntarily, they will receive an additional 30% increase in their salary.
According to the details provided by the Ministry, it should be noted that the new law of defense states that only members of the defense forces will be eligible to complete national military duty beginning in 2025. The new Defense Code states that mandatory military service has been fully extended and will be replaced on January 1, 2025, by the National Military Service, which is only open to members of the Defense Forces.
Accordingly, the National Military Challenge and Recruitment Agency was established in the Defense Forces, which through 8 regional centers and 81 municipal divisions, will carry out the required census, recruitment, and challenge measures to equip the Defense Forces with relevant personnel of regular and reserve military services.
