Rustavi, Georgia: The Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze took part in the award ceremony of outstanding pupils, which was held in Rustavi on July 6, 2025, Sunday. The Minister congratulated the young people on finishing school with the Mayor of Rustavi, Nino Latsabidze.
As Givi Mikanadze noted, the tradition of awarding gold and silver medalists, founded by Rustavi City Hall in 2022, is a truly remarkable and exemplary initiative. According to him, this reaffirms that one of the top priorities of the local government is to support the youth, motivate them, and pave the way for a successful future.
Givi Mikanadze thanked Nino Latsabidze for organizing such a large-scale event for his pupils and during his speech he emphasized the importance of developing Rustavi as a youth city. He stated, “Step by step, we are moving towards Rustavi becoming a student city and youth projects being associated right here.”
“I would like to inform the public that significant steps will be taken by our government in this direction shortly,” the minister said.
Vladimir Bozhadze, the member of the Parliament’s Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, Levan Kharabadze, the State Commissioner in Kvemo Kartli and the Rustavi delegate in the Parliament, Irakli Shatakishvili, addressed the community attending the event.
In addition to the prize established by various sponsors, the medalists also received a cash prize from the City Hall. This year 141 gold and 21 silver medal winners were awarded in Rustavi city. It is worth noting that the award ceremony for students of Rustavi schools was held within the framework of the “Oxygen Fest”.
“Oxygen Fest”, which has already become a tradition, will be held this year at Rustavi’s ancient castle on July 5-6. This year’s slogan – “Breathe in History”.
The “Rustavi Oxygen Fest” space will host various musical groups and festivals for two days. In addition to the amenities and food, visitors will also find exhibits and sales of local businesses and crafts.
