They also had a meeting with blueberry producers and farmers.
It was noted that, in Georgia, nuts are an important part of the agricultural culture, with an important economic effect. Georgia is one of the world’s seventh-largest nut-exporting countries.
It is worth mentioning that high-quality, abundant crops are a prerequisite for farmers to have high yields. The State supports them in a number of programs, virtually every way, including promoting gardens, housing crops, combating diseases, including large-scale measures against measles.
According to David Songhulashvili, at this point, the challenge in the nut sector is the sound of gardens. The Agricultural Scientific Research Center is actively working on the issue of cause identification to help farmers with appropriate recommendations.
He also stated, ” Although this year’s spring frost damaged some of the crops, amid increased production, the export index is up 36% compared to the same period last year.” “The cost of exported blueberries was 40.5 million US dollars,” he added.
The support from the state continues for the development of the agricultural sector, the welfare of our farmers and entrepreneurs, and, as a result, the strengthening of the country’s economy,” – David Songhulashvili.
