Tbilisi: The health ministry of Georgia has issued an advisory for citizens to stay safe in the summer season. The ministry also shares tips to follow during these days to protect children against heat waves.
During the summer season  strong heat can cause various forms of diseases in children. Extra protection can protect the child from extreme heat as much as possible. Parents should observe children if they feel unwell and contact the doctor as soon as suspicious symptoms appear.
According to medical experts  severe heat may cause dehydration, exhaustion, convulsive events, disruption of blood circulation, etc. Parents should not ignore symptoms like weakness, severe fatigue, headache, fever, heart palpitations, vomiting, numbness, changes in behavior (sleepiness, being in a bad mood), and faster and deeper breathing than usual.
As per the advisory  if these symptoms appear during a high fever  move the child to a cool place and give him plenty of fluids. Similarly  children with breathing difficulties (asthma), cardiovascular and kidney diseases, diarrhea, and limited mental and physical abilities are at the highest risk and need extra care.
At the same time  parents need to have a close look at their children’s mental health  as being locked in the house can make children nervous and restless. Fun activities at home should be arranged to make the children happy.   Bathing of the children with cool water is highly advised  .   Moreover the plan to move outside should be during the  cooler part of the day.
If there is any mosquito activity observed  the advisory   advised to protect the free surface of the skin with an insect repellent and follow the instructions of the manufacturer of the product.
Moreover never leave a child in a parked vehicle or under the sun as the temperature inside the car can rise quickly. Even with an open window, the temperature can rise by 6 degrees in 10 minutes. Advisory further stated  that if you cannot avoid the sun use a sunscreen that contains a UV filter and follow the cream manufacturer’s instructions.
