Tbilisi: Tea Tsulukiani, Georgian Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, visited the future house-museum of the great Georgian writer Konstantine Gamsakhurdia. She visited there during a working visit to Abashi Municipality.
During this the visiting minister was accompanied by the Deputy Minister, Head of the National Agency for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Nikoloz Aznaurashvili, Mayor of Abasha Gia Gabelaia, Director of the Palace of Arts Giorgi Kalandia and Konstantine Gamsakhurdia grandson Konstantine.
The minister at the time of the visit inspected the already reconstructed buildings of the House-Museum funded by the fund “Kartu” and discussed the future plans with the writer’s grandson.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the exhibition and educational spaces are being arranged in the territory of the House-Museum, which is under the management of the Abashi Municipality Hall.
Construction of the Cultural Center of Constantine Gamsakhurdia Museum is planned on the same territory. The issue has been discussed several times in the sections on protected zones and urban heritage.
It is to be noted further that the Permission for rehabilitation works of the house museum was granted in the year of 2020. As a result, the fund “Karthu” rehabilitated the house. Completed works were handed over by the National Agency for the Protection of Cultural Heritage on August 18 this year.
Konstantine Gamsakhurdia’s house-museum is located in the village of Old Abasha of Abasha Municipality and holds the status of a cultural heritage. Museum area is 19018 sq. M. It covers a lot of space. The wooden building of the House Museum was moved from another village in 1983 to this place. The object has served as a museum since 1987.
She also got detailed information at the time of the visit. She said that more funds would be provided for the better arrangement of the house museum.
She discussed future plans with the other representatives who were present on the spot. She also appreciated the contribution of Konstantine Gamsakhurdia to the promotion of Georgiian culture and art.
She also stated that Abashi Municipality has done commendable work by constructing a house museum. On the other hand, the official management of the house museum stated that in the future more funds will be utilised to equip the museum with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
