Young Georgian inventors win Millennium Innovation Award 

A group of talented young Georgian inventors will travel to NASA Space Center, Stanford Tech Camp, and CERN Laboratory to gain new experiences and skills after winning the Millennium Innovation Award competition, according to a press release from the U.S. Embassy in Georgia.

Tbilisi, Georgia: A group of talented young Georgian inventors will travel to NASA Space Center, Stanford Tech Camp, and CERN Laboratory to gain new experiences and skills after winning the Millennium Innovation Award competition, according to a press release from the U.S. Embassy in Georgia.

The Millennium Innovation Award is a prestigious prize that recognizes technological innovations that benefit people globally and sustainably improve life on the planet. The competition is open to individuals and teams from around the world and is supported by the U.S. Embassy in Georgia.

The winners of the 2024 edition of the competition are:

Team TERRATECH won first place for creating a mining robot and an intelligent uniform to detect and prevent hazards in underground environments.

The Team FSTF won second place for creating a device that can translate texts printed in Braille for blind people, using a camera and a voice synthesizer.

The Team Optical Visionaries won third place for creating a robot ophthalmologist to diagnose and treat eye diseases using artificial intelligence and laser technology.

The winning teams will have the opportunity to visit some of the world’s leading research centres and learn from the experts in their fields. They will also share their experiences and skills with other young innovators from different countries and cultures.

The U.S. Embassy in Georgia congratulated the winners and praised their achievements and contributions to developing Georgian science and technology. The embassy also expressed its commitment to supporting the innovation and education of Georgian youth.

Millennium Innovation Competition 2023 

The Millennium Innovation Competition 2023 winners were announced at the gala-award ceremony.

The first place and the main prize of the Millennium Challenge 2023 competition – a trip to NASA Summer School – team “TerraTech”.

Second place winner Tbilisi N199 public school team “FSTF (From Seeable To Feelable)”.

 Third place and a study visit to the European Center for Nuclear Studies (CERN), Switzerland, was won by the team “Optical Visionaries”.

 Team “Halove” has been chosen by EPAM company, and its members will visit EPAM Lithuania on an educational visit.

 Competition partner organizations – Kutaisi International University, National Astrophysical Observatory, Sakpatent, Geolab, Academy “Letterato”, and company market. GE awarded prizes to the teams that reached the final stage.
