Georgia: The manuscript, an uniqe work of Ioane was placed in the Treasury Fund of the National Museum of Georgia for permanent preservation.
As soon as it was placed in the museum’s fund, the appropriate procedures were started. After that, it will be listed in the income book and given a museum number.
Before transferring to the National Museum, the manuscript was transferred to the Patriarchate of Georgia, where the head of the Patriarchal Throne, the Metropolitan of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, performed a paraklis with the priests. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Acting Minister of Culture and Sports Ioseb Bagaturia, government members and National Museum representatives attended the paraklis.
The manuscript has placed an apartment next to Bedi’s thigh in the National Museum’s exhibition of Christian Treasures (Gold Fund), where there is also an onion icon, anch icon, King Tamar’s cross, silken icon, and other sanctities.
This manuscript holds particular significance, as it includes some of the earliest Gospel texts written in a dialect of Western Aramaic, closely related to the language spoken by Jesus.
The public can see Ioane Zosime’s manuscript at the National Museum of Georgia from 10:00 to 18:00 every day except Mondays.
As it is known, Bidzina Ivanishvili purchased a palimpsest, Codex Sinaiticus Rescriptus, at the auction of Christ. It is composed in Armenian and Georgian. The lower layer dates back to the V-VII centuries, while the latter layer dates back to 979 and was performed by Ioane Zosime. It is noteworthy that this is his only manuscript in Georgia, and it is of great importance for the study of both Georgia and the Christian East.
