“We have started rehabilitation works in Pushkin Square. The existing space was in very bad condition. We want to renovate the square completely – the tiles will be completely changed, as well as planting patterns will be increased as much as possible, trees and plants will be planted, and the lighting system will be changed. These old, classic lamps are very much in line with the existing space; however, they need to be rehabilitated and updated. The area will be completely tidied up. Next year we plan to fully rehabilitate Rustaveli Avenue with its underground communications, and since Pushkin Square is one of the central spaces on Freedom Square, it will also be completely renovated and arranged,” said Kakha Kaladze.

As part of the rehabilitation, additional landscaping will be arranged in the area, and the planning of existing landscaping patterns will be changed.

Also, pedestrian paths will be renovated, park equipment will be installed, an outdoor lighting system will be arranged, and a video surveillance system will be additionally installed. The templates will cover all the necessary measures for planting: a mixture of fertile soil will be introduced in the area, green plants will be planted, an irrigation system will be arranged, and grass will be planted.

The cost of construction work is 800 000 GEL. Rehabilitation works are planned to be completed by the end of October this year.

Giga Gigashvili, Head of the Environmental Protection Service of the Tbilisi City Hall, Davit Kirkitadze, Gamgebeli of Mtatsminda District and Zurab Abashidze, Majoritarian MP of the City Council, were present on the spot together with the Mayor of the capital.
