Georgia: The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Irakli Karseladze, met with Hideaki Iwasaki, Head of the Central and Western Asia Transport Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
At the meeting, the parties discussed the ongoing road infrastructure projects in Georgia with the support of the Asian Development Bank; Noted their importance for the economic development of the country; Emphasized the role of Georgia’s road infrastructure for the international transit corridor and talked about the progress and challenges of the projects.
At the meeting, they also discussed the planned projects supported by the Asian Development Bank and talked about additional opportunities for future cooperation.
Minister Irakli Karseladze thanked the representatives of the Asian Development Bank for many years of fruitful cooperation. For his part, Hidekai Ivasaki praised the results of cooperation with Georgia and, in particular, with the Ministry.
The meeting held at the Ministry was attended by the Chairman of the Highways Department, Giorgi Tsereteli and his deputies, representatives of the Asian Development Bank Zaigham Naqvi, Tomas Herzi and Giorgi Kiziria.
With the support of the Zia Development Bank, the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure implements large-scale and important projects such as the construction of the Rikoti Highway (2 sections), the construction of the 9 km Kvesheti-Kobi tunnel and road, the construction of the new Tsnori bypass Construction of bridge and access road, etc.
