Ilia Verdzadze, Chairman of the Health and Social Affairs Committee of the Supreme Council of Adjara, attended the opening of a new branch of the Irma Khvichia Rehabilitation Center in Khulo.
Also at the meeting were Ilia Verdzadze, Minur Paksadze, delegate from Khulo to the Supreme Council of Adjara; Nino Nizharadze, Minister of Health and Social Protection of Adjara; and Leila Ghoghoberidze, Head of the Secretariat of the Supreme Council’s sectoral committee.
The Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara shared the glimpses of the opening ceremony along with a brief note about it on its official Facebook Page on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
“Providing adequate medical services to the highland population is a top priority for our government. The opening of the Irma Khvichia Rehabilitation Center branch—serving children and adults living in the municipality—offers another opportunity to improve functional abilities, independence, and quality of life within their local community,” said Ilia Verdzadze.
This multidisciplinary medical institution, which already operates successfully in Batumi and Keda, will provide children and adults with appropriate medical and rehabilitation services at the new branch.
Furthermore, according to the center’s clinical director, Irma Khvichia, patients will have access to services covered by state-funded programs, in accordance with the programs’ terms and established criteria. Specialists from various fields will offer the center’s beneficiaries medical services tailored to their specific needs.
The opening of the new branch was attended by Khulo Municipality Mayor Vakhtang Beridze, City Council Chairman Renar Bolkvadze, and representatives from local government as well as the medical, social, and educational sectors.
The guests learned about the activities of the Irma Khvichia Rehabilitation Center, the capabilities of the new branch, and relevant state programs; they also toured the facility and spoke with the specialists.
