Akhaltsikhe: New academic session begins at Samtskhe-Javakheti State University. On the first day of the new session a celebration event was held, attended by Mayor Irakli Lazarashvili and many other dignitaries.
The event was orgainised to welcome new students to University who got admission here for higher education. State Trustee Besik Amiranashvili and the mayor of Akhaltsikhe Municipality, Irakli Lazarashvil attended the event.
Other important people who graced the occasion with their esteem presence included the Chairman of Sakrebulo, Davit Lomidze, the Mayor’s Assistant, Vazha Gachechiladze, representatives of the State Trustee’s administration and officials of local self-government.
On this occasion the Rector of Samtskhe-Javakheti State University, Maka Beridze congratulated students and academic staff on the start of their studies and wished them success. He also encouraged them to work hard to achieve more success in academic and personal life.
While extending his best wishes the Mayor added “Congratulations students on starting the new academic year. The City Hall of Akhaltsikhe Municipality is always concerned about the overall development of students.”
He further said that,”Several important infrastructural projects are being implemented and many others being executed taking into account the interests of young people. I am sure that the University graduates will certainly be useful to our municipality in the future.”
It is worth noting that under the provisions of the memorandum of mutual cooperation, the City Hall actively supports outstanding students living in the municipality. Twice a year based on the highest results obtained at the end of each semester, 500 GEL scholarships will be awarded to these brilliant students.
Along with the scholarships they will also be awarded with certificates. This year 66 students received the scholarship certificate.
Samtskhe-Javakheti State University was established in 1990 to provide world-class education to students of the region. Currently study at the University is being provided in four main educational programs.
These four include the Faculty of Education, Social, and Human Sciences, Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Engineering, Agricultural, and Natural Sciences.
