In the Samgori district, outdoor playgrounds were set up on the territory of Varketili Multifunctional Center. The property features two hard-type tennis courts, 7×7 football and paddle courts, as well as a small children’s skate area.
The mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, inspected the sports infrastructure with deputies Irakli Bendeliani and Andrea Basilaya.
Kakha Kaladze noted, “We recently finished the construction of a multifunctional community center in Varketili settlement. The center is very popular; in fact, it is fully booked.” “We immediately announced that sports infrastructure would be built in the surrounding area. Jobs completed for today. As part of the project, two tennis courts, as well as padel and football courts, were built,” he added.
“This infrastructure will start functioning from 1st April, and I am sure it will be very busy. The greening works are still left, and this project will be implemented in the near future. I am glad that we have implemented such a large-scale project in the Samgori district. The main thing is that the sports center – swimming pools, wrestling halls, gym, or training area is fully loaded. “In addition, on specific days and hours of the week, people aged 60 and older can use the center for free,” said the mayor of Tbilisi.
In addition, outdoor lighting and heating systems were installed in the centre area, security cameras were installed, and with the help of the local council, road infrastructure was tidied up on the outer perimeter.
The project of building the center is implemented by the City Service of Culture, Education, Sports, and Youth Affairs of Tbilisi City Hall, and the cost of the outdoor playground is 2.8 million GEL.
Along with the mayor, Irakli Gvilava, the head of the Civil Service of Culture, Education, Sports and Youth Affairs, and Majority Deputy of Sakrebulo Vazha Kokaia were present.
