During the official visit, Tea Akhvlediani held a meeting with the representatives of the “Women’s Room” in Akhmeta, where she spoke about the implementation of the priority directions of the state policy on civic equality and integration.

The State Minister stressed the importance of women’s active involvement in the process, which links to empowering them and increasing their involvement in different spheres of public life.

Tea Akhvlediani also visited the village of Jokolo and met with public school teachers in the Pankisi Valley. The State Minister stressed the importance of access to quality education for ethnic minorities, the steps already taken in this direction within the framework of the state policy on civic equality and integration, and the measures planned for the future.

The vital role of teachers in the community integration process was emphasized, who make a notable contribution to the formation of public opinion in the community and raising the awareness of young people.

During the visit, the Minister of State visited the gymnasium in the village of Dumasturi and presented with Amy Clan, Deputy Head of the UN Children’s Fund, the latest international standard judo tatami, which was purchased with the financial support of UNICEF. Tea Akhvlediani expressed hope that the promotion of sports events will encourage further achievements of local youth, more communication and integration with peers.

The State Minister also attended the presentation of Giorgi Sosiashvili’s book “The Wailing Wall” in the village of Dumasturi.

“Strengthening the role of women and youth and promoting their active involvement – was the main goal of my workshops in Akhmeta Municipality. During the meetings with the representatives of the “Women’s Room” and the teachers of the Pankisi region in the city of Akhmeta and the village of Jokolo, we discussed our main strategic goals, objectives, implemented and ongoing activities, existing needs and ways to solve them. I think it was especially important that our meeting at the school in the village of Dumasturi, where we donated an international standard judo tatami to the gym, with the support of UNICEF, was especially important and joyful for the local youth, which is distinguished by their interest in and opportunities in sports. I am sure that such support will contribute to the further achievements and greater communication of the youth through a healthy lifestyle and sports,” said State Minister Tea Akhvlediani.
