Public school of Akuri village of Telavi municipality hosts festival of sustainable development

Pupils of 16 schools in the Kakheti region presented school projects implemented in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals within the framework of the general education reform.

The event, which featured targeted projects created by students, was attended by Berika Shukakidze, Director of the National Center for Teacher Professional Development, school teachers and representatives of educational resource centres.

Berika Shukakidze talked to the festival participants about sustainable development goals, their importance and the opportunities to engage in such activities.

“The subject experts and I liked the quality and content of the presented projects. The children clearly showed us the challenges facing their region. Most importantly, they showed us diligence and their own abilities. One of the purposes of these projects is to activate the school community and involve children and their parents in the process. In the future, our goal is to connect these projects with STEM education so that children can do more, create more, learn by discovery, learn by research, learn by search, which will make their future life even more interesting,” said Berika Shukakidze.

Improving and strengthening the school culture in line with the national goals of sustainable development is one of the goals of the general education reform.

The reform, together with the Ministry of Education and Science, is being implemented by the National Center for Teacher Professional Development, which facilitates the introduction of a third-generation national curriculum in public education institutions.
