Georgia: First Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture George Khanishvili met with Zviad Shalamberidze, representative of Imereti district and representatives of the municipality of the region.

At the meeting, the issues of agricultural works in the region were discussed. The focus was on preventing and delaying the risks of climate-induced poisoning of agricultural crops, including Asian pheasant control.

George Khanishvili emphasized the importance of the coordinated work of all government agencies and the active involvement of farmers in the process of fighting pheasants and other pest-diseases.



“The state is actively taking measures to fight against the Asian pheasant. In order to get a high-quality harvest, it is most important that each farmer does his best and carries out the works provided by the agrocalendar on his own land”, said George Khanishvili.

Lasha Shalamberidze, the head of the coordination management center for the fight against the Asian pheasant, informed the representatives of the municipalities about the measures already implemented and planned in the region against the pest. 

To date, in Western Georgia, an area of ​​14 thousand hectares has already been cultivated against pheasants.
