Georgia: Minister of IDPs attends forum on non-communicable diseases

Georgia: The Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection attended the forum on non-communicable diseases. At the event, industry specialists discussed the importance of establishing a full-scale system of prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.

Georgia: The Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection attended the forum on non-communicable diseases. At the event, industry specialists discussed the importance of establishing a full-scale system of prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.

The Minister of Health gave a speech at the forum. According to Zurab Azarashvili, by improving the availability of healthcare services, early detection and timely treatment of non-communicable diseases became possible.

“The financing of the most frequently used medicines for the treatment of chronic diseases is carried out within the framework of universal health care. It is planned to further expand this program. We are working in a parallel mode in order to establish reference prices for medicines for the treatment of chronic diseases, which is a successful and proven mechanism in many countries of the world,” said the Minister of Health.



As Zurab Azarashvili mentioned at the forum, the agency is actively working with the Parliament’s Health Committee to further improve the practice of diabetes management.

The participants of the forum discussed the draft of the non-communicable diseases investment package, the national strategy and the physical activity action plan. Specialists in the field also spoke about the achievements and challenges of the state health promotion program.



The forum was also attended by Deputy Ministers of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection Tamar Gabunia and Ilia Ghudushauri, WHO representative in Georgia Silviu Domente, Deputy Chairman of the Health Protection and Social Affairs Committee of the Parliament Lado Kakhadze, health experts, policy department of the Ministry, academic circle and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
