The main objective of the meeting was to offer students internships with the National Agency for Protection of Cultural Heritage and the National Museum and discuss their future employment prospects. Specifically, the interns will participate in the ongoing rehabilitation work of the cultural heritage agency, as well as reviewing the project documentation.

The internship program will be in two directions – the restoration of artwork (wall and wall painting, archaeological artifacts restoration) and architectural monuments restoration.At the meeting, students were given Vakhtang Tsintsadze’s book about Old Tbilisi, which was funded by the Ministry of Culture and published in 2022.

FYI: The stream of freshmen who passed the Art Academy in 2023 has been enrolled as a result of creative competition in accordance with the new reform rules. In particular, the Academy has developed a new version of creative competition, which allows for more accurately evaluating the creative abilities of each entrant.

Until now, creative competition for students of all programs of the faculties of Fine Arts, Design, Media Arts and Architecture was held only in drawing, and this year the new model of creative competition included two stages:

  • Presentation of the portfolio.
  • In case of successfully passing the portfolio stage – exam in drawing (faculties of fine art, design and media art) or in line (faculty of architecture).

Portfolios and exam papers were evaluated by the creative competition commission anonymously.

854 entrants have expressed their desire to be enrolled in the Art Academy this year, which is the highest rate in recent years. 309 entrants were enrolled in the academy and vacancies for freshmen were completely filled.

This year the seats at the Faculty of Restoration were distributed as follows:

Restoration/conservation of architecture – 26 students (six students moved to the academy due to mobility).

Restoration of works of art – 13 (three students moved to the academy due to mobility);

Last year, five places were announced in the field of architecture restoration-conservation and ten in the field of artwork restoration.

The results of the Art Academy exams show that there is an interest in restoration-conservation of architecture among young people and creating a vacant place at the university in this direction is not short of meaning.

At the end, the Minister of Culture Thea Tsulukiani wished success to students in studying, working hard and achieving plans.
