CIU: Conference on Modern Challenges of National And International Security held

On December 13, 2023 a scientific conference on the theme of “Modern challenges of national and international security” was held at Caucasus International University of Georgia. This conferencee was held with the collaboration of the Caucasus International University and the Center for National and Corporate Security.

Kakhaber Kordzaya, rector of the Caucasus International University, opened the conference. The participants of the conference were welcomed by Polish Ambassador Emergency and Plenipotentiary to Georgia Mariush Mashkievich, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Georgia Kanat Seitzhanov, Director of the State Service for Veterans Affairs, Major General Koba Kobaladze, Associate Professor of the Caucasus International University, Lieutenant General Vakhtang Kapanadze, Director of the research centre David Kukhalashvili and dean of the Faculty of Law of the Caucasus International University George Khatidze.

On this occasion almost sixty students from different faculties and levels of Caucasus International University participated in the conference to learn in detail about national and international security aspects.

It is specifically to be mentioned that on this occasion different topics were discussed, ranging from Political Security, Military Security and International Security (Actual Political Conflicts) to Information Security and Cyber Security Section, Economic Security and Scientific-Technical Security Section. Each section of discussion was headed by a commission consisting of field experts and academic staff.

Speaking at the conference, almost all the experts expressed concern over the use of artificial intelligence and its present-day threat. As far as the issue of information and cyber security was concerned, it was stated that international cooperation along with information and technology sharing is needed to make cyber security more stable.

Similarly, economic offences committed by individual and multinational companies were also mentioned during the conference. As per the speakers due to globalisation and the advancement of technology the prevention of economic crime has become complicated. The international alliance aimed to boost cooperation and coordination was underscored during the conference.

During the day, the presentation of the Polish-language book was also held under the head- “Fourth Generation Wars – NATO Context and South Caucasus”. This presentation was given by Vakhtang Maisaya, Professor of the Caucasus International University, Doctor of Political Sciences.

Meanwhile, participating students also asked many queries to experts present during the seminar. Social media users also commend the efforts of the university and organisers of the conference.
