Georgia Extradite one accused of US

Tbilisi: Recently, an agreement for extradition has been made between Georiga and the United States of America. An accused of sexual offences has been extradited from Georgia to the United States of America.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the person was wanted under an Interpol red circular for particularly serious crimes of sexual offences. He has been now extradited from Georgia to the United States of America after completing the basic legal requirements and formalities.

It is worth mentioning that on the basis of the individual extradition agreement signed between the General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and the United States State Department, the extradition of a person wanted by Interpol red circular for particularly serious crimes was carried out from Georgia to the United States of America.

It is to be added that the extradited person was wanted by the competent authorities of the United States of America in the year of 2017-2021 in the state of Texas for sexual violence against minors and assault on a family member.

At the same time, he was also wanted in a case registered in 2020-2021 in the state of Louisiana for membership in an organised criminal group and another crime.

The decision in this regard has been taken based on the petition of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, to the Tbilisi City Court. After examining the various documents and other paperwork, the city court has recognised the extradition of the mentioned person to the United States of America as admissible.

It is also to be noted that on December 26, 2023, the Minister of Justice of Georgia made a final decision on extradition, after which the wanted person was handed over by the employees of the Special Penitentiary Service to the representatives to the competent authorities of the United States of America.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia expresses its readiness to successfully cooperate with competent authorities of partner countries in the future in order to bring wanted persons to justice and deliver justice.
