Tea Tsulukiani The Minister of Culture and Sports of Georgia, has attended the presentation of the Megrelian-Abkhazian songs album of ensemble “Didgori.” He was accompanied by many other dignitaries of the locality on this occasion.
It is to be specifically mentioned that the ensemble “Didgorm” presented the album of Megrelian-Abkhazian songs which was created with the support of the Ministry of Culture in the hall of the State Folklore Center named after Anzor Erkomaishvili.
The event was attended by Minister of Culture and Sports Tea Tsulukiani along with Deputy Minister of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia Mariam Kuchava, Head of State Folklore Center Giorgi Donadze, Former Minister of Culture, writer Guram Odisharia, Anzor Erkomaishvili’s wife Lali Seturidze and guests interested in folk songs performances.
Megrelian-Abkhazian songs album was recorded under the framework of the project “Sung Museum” which has been financed by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia. The project took place during July-October 2023 at the Ethnographic Museum named after Giorgi Chitaia.
The album features Megrelian and Abkhazian songs have been related according to their genre, function and sound. Ensemble “Didgori” celebrates its 20th anniversary this year as well. The Didgora people have sung these songs since the ensemble was founded, and they will present them with equal love and pride in front of an audience outside Georgia or its borders.
“Harira-Harirama” was recorded in the recording studio of the State Folklore Center named after Anzor Erkomaishvili and was prepared for release with the support of the “Georgian Chant” foundation.
It is to be noted the project “Sung Museum” has been running since July 9 this year with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia. Over a few months eight folk concerts (5 solo concerts of ensemble Didgori and three joint concerts with different folk ensembles: “Lalkhori”, “Margarita”, and “Ferkhisa” and four folk song working meetings were held.
Apart from the ensemble “Didgori”, other ensembles (Lika Liparteliani, Beka and Gocha Bidzinashvili) participated in the events both from Tbilisi and regions.
Visitors to the Ethnographic Museum had the opportunity to hear folklore from different angles take folk song lessons and sing with professionals. It should be noted that the initiative of the ensemble “Didgori” has served the great public interest and has attracted both foreign and Georgian listeners to the museum.
