Georgian foreign minister visits Turkey

On this occasion parties discussed many current issues of bilateral and strategic cooperation between the two countries. At the same time they emphasized the importance of further deepening of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

It is to be added that the minister also thanked the speaker for Turkey’s unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity Moreover he also said that Georgia is thankful to Turkey for the support of Georgia’s policy of non-recognition. He also extended his gratitude for active support in the efforts of Georgia joining NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation).

The conversation between both sides further touched on the ongoing processes in the region and the world. It was noted that stability and peace is the needs of the hour and there is no alternative to peace in the region.

It is also noteworthy that the dynamics of bilateral trade and economic relations were assessed as successful between both countries.

Similarly attention was focused on the implementation of strategic transit and energy projects across the country. The importance of deepening trilateral cooperation between Georgia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan was underlined during the bilateral meeting including trilateral meetings of foreign committees of legislative bodies ministers of foreign affairs, ministers of defense, etc.

On the other hand representatives of Turkey congratulated Georgia for the grant of candidate status by the European Council. They said that this status will open the gate for Georgia to get a full-fledged membership of the European Union in the future.

It was also discussed that the membership of Georgia into the European Union will provide new opportunities for the country and the life of the Georgian people will see dramatic changes as well.

After the successful cooperation both the parties confirmed that close cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Turkey will continue actively.
