A meeting was held with a representative of ethnic minorities

The Chairman of the Committee for Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration of the Georgian Parliament Mikheil Sarjveladze held a meeting with representatives of ethnic minorities in Rustavi. The meeting aimed to discuss the issues of importance related to ethnic minorities living in the municipality.

Rustavi:  The Chairman of the Committee for Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration of the Georgian Parliament Mikheil Sarjveladze held a meeting with representatives of ethnic minorities in Rustavi. The meeting aimed to discuss the issues of importance related to ethnic minorities living in the municipality.

The meeting was attended by Rustavi Mayor Nino Latsabidze, Lower Kartli State Commissioner Giorgi Dokhturishvili, Rustavi Majoritarian MP Irakli Shatakishvili, and members of Parliament. The vital meeting was held at the Municipal Services Center.

On the other hand Mikheil Sarjveladze the representatives of ethnic minorities also was present on the spot and shared their views with government representatives as well.                                                                             

It is worth mentioning that the Committee on Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration introduced the priority issues of the 2024 action plan during the meeting and strategies to implement the programs as well.

On this occasion the Rustavi Mayor and Lower Kartli Governor emphasized the importance of strengthening the inclusion of ethnic minorities living in the region. They said that ethnic minorities are an integral part of the country and all possible measures are being taken to ensure the safety and security concerns of these people.

On the other hand the participants of the meeting discussed the needs of ethnic minorities and their rights .The views of representatives of ethnic minorities will be taken into account in the action plan on which Parliament’s Human Rights Protection and Civil Integration Committee is working.

The Mayor while expressing his concern said that no country in the world can survive unless and until they take care of their minorities. According to the mayor legal protection is being provided to ensure the human rights and dignity these communities deserve as well.

The mayor on the occasion also provides information on the various measures that have been already taken by the military. She also shared information about the projects and programs that will be ensured in the future for the welfare of the ethnic community of the municipality as well in the future.
