Tbilisi: Mariam Kvrivishvili the deputy minister of economics and sustainability of Georgia recently visited the Tbilisi International Airport. The minister inspected the quality of completed work and progress of the ongoing projects.
During his visit Mariam Kvrivishvili got acquainted with the results of reconstruction works at Tbilisi International Airport. He also held talks with the managing agency “Tav Georgia” and heard from Tav Georgia executives about other infrastructure projects planned for the airport’s space.
Director of the Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia Givi Davitashvili and Director General of the Union of Airports of Georgia Irakli Karkashadze were also present along with Deputy Minister at the Tbilisi Airport during the visit of the minister as well.
Minister said that “Important works have been completed at Tbilisi International Airport as well as the reconstruction of the flight terminal has taken place. After the completed work the durability of the border and security checkpoints has increased by 44%. This is very important for our country’s main airport because this year we have quite positive expectations about increasing passenger traffic as well as the number of direct flights from here to the main cities of the world.
It is also to be mentioned that after the completion of a project to partially remove the fences along the escalators, an additional 220 sq.m is now available. Therefore the number of passport checking booths has increased and the aviation safety check zone has expanded. This will greatly improve the passenger car transportation at the airport.
The investment value of the project is an amount of 2200000 GEL it includes both the works already done as well as the expansion of the business lounge/facility at this stage and also the “fast corridor” along with other necessary changes.
Notably the Fast Track projects will allow people with special needs and business class passengers to pass security and border checkpoints as quickly and comfortably as possible.
On the other hand Mariam Kvrivishvili noted that “Of course we together with the operator company are taking care of Tbilisi International Airport to be constantly developed to be even more flexible to have fewer queues to ensure high-quality delivery at the airports”.
