Georgia: Cyber Coalition 2024 conference held

The “Cyber Coalition 2024” initial planning conference was held in Georgia. The important conference was attended by about one hundred representatives of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) members and its partner countries.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the “Cyber Coalition” is NATO’s largest-scale cyber-learning project which is in its implementation phase. Moreover at present more than 1000 representatives of NATO members and partner countries have participated in it.

The next phase of training will be held in December 2024 in Estonia Tallinn. The goal of cyberlearning is to expand cooperation between NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) allies and partner countries in cyberspace. It also has the objective to improve cyber incident management and information exchange mechanisms.

Notably, the Bureau of Cybersecurity of Georgia has been actively participating in training for the last five years in a row. The event which has been going on for a week was opened by Luka Mgeladze Director of the Cyber Security Bureau of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia and he talked about the importance of this training for Georgia.

The key speakers of the event while addressing the participants stressed the strict cyber laws across the country. They also stated that in the future artificial intelligence will cause more problems in the cyber space.

The speakers also agreed that there is an immediate need to launch a joint initiative at the national, regional, and international levels to overcome the threats imposed by cyber-related crimes.

At the end of the conference the Deputy Chief of the Defense Forces Brigade General Irakli Chichinadze addressed the participants. He thanked the participants once again for holding the event in Georgia and emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.

At the event many top-level army officials also take part. They also highlighted the cyber threats to the defense sector. The Army officials also support joint actions among the countries.
