Georgia sings agreement with China  for  mutual relaxation of visa norms

The Governments  Georgia and the People's Republic of China have signed an agreement  for the mutual exemption of ordinary passport holders from visa requirements.

The Governments  Georgia and the People’s Republic of China have signed an agreement  for the mutual exemption of ordinary passport holders from visa requirements.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia  Ilia Darchiashvili  and  Chou Tsien the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Georgia .The agreement between both nation was signed on April 10, 2024.

According to the Georgian Foreign Minister the existence of a bilateral visa-free regime is important for strengthening friendship between peoples and developing and deepening economic ties between countries. The agreement mentioned above will give a new impetus to further developing friendly relations. The agreement will be mutually beneficial to boost cooperation between Georgia and China and promote the full use of existing opportunities in the field of people-to-people contacts, tourism, cultural and trade-economic ties”.

The signed agreement between Georgia and China is an example of a strong , growing relationship between the two countries. It will further paves way to stabilize  the strategic partnership established last year and represents another important tangible result of mutual cooperation.

It is to be added that after entering into force the agreement will allow citizens of Georgia to travel to the People’s Republic of China without a visa and stay in the country for 30 days at a time.

However the agreement signed will enter into force after the two states complete internal legal procedures within a specific time period. The Georgian minister also said that China  the new economic power of the world is also a symbol of the multipolar world.

FM also underlined the fact that China’s economic success will motivate Georgian entrepreneurs to achieve success and contribute to growing the Georgian economy as well.

The Chinese ambassador to Georgia  while speaking on the occasion also said that this is a historic moment for both countries and will provide an open opportunity for enhanced people-to-people contact in the future.
