Guria gets a new inter-municipal social platform

On the initiative of the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia new inner-municipal social platform has been established in Guria region of Georgia for  sharing of inter-municipal experience .

On the initiative of the NALAG(National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia) new inner-municipal social platform has been established in the Guria region of Georgia. This platform will facilitate to sharing of inter-municipal experience among all three municipalities of the region.

As there are three municipalities of Guria region this platform will unite them all on a single platform to share their experiences with the representative of other municiplaities.

On the occasion of the inauguration of the platform a significant meeting was held. This meeting was opened by the Executive Director of NALAG, Nino Rukhadze along with the deputy Mayors of the Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri, and Lanchkhuti municipalities namely Natia Goliadze, Mindia Zhgeria, and Ekaterine Gujabidze respectively.

All the key speakers at the opening ceremony mentioned the role of the local government especially municipalities for delivery of  good governance. According to them local government plays an important role in ensuring the protection of children rights and social welfare and making public-oriented policies.

Due to their significant role in the day-to-day functioning they must be equipped with relevant knowledge and experience in proper development, planning, and implementation of social programs.

This is also to be added that the first part of the meeting was devoted to the discussion of the concept and operation of the inter-municipal platform in which attendee will learn about measures for better implementation of the municipal policies.

This part was introduced by Nino Zurabishvili who is an expert on local self-governance while introducing the first part she spoke about the goals of the UNICEF/NALAG partnership projects. 

She further introduced the results of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti inter-municipal platform to the audience and reviewed the planning mechanisms of municipal social services.At the end  the participants defined the agenda items for the next meeting of the platform and discussed plans with the attendees of the meeting.

The meeting took place in the discussion format and was attended by the Deputy Executive Director of NALAG, Lasha Archvadze, the advisor to the executive director of the Association, Vladimir Bozhadze as well as representatives of the relevant municipal services.
