Georgia’s Dy. FM meets Chinese Ambassador to discuss mutual visa exemption

Tbilisi: Alexander Khvtisiashvili the deputy foreign minister of Georgia today met with Zhou Qian the Chinese Ambassador to the country. The Ambassador handed over the necessary documents regarding the mutual visa exemption agreement which had been  signed on 10 April 2024.

As both countries have signed the agreement to their citizens for mutual exemption  today ambassador officially handed over to the Georgian side the necessary legal document to give practical effect to the agreement. Under the agreement the citizens having the ordinary passport can avail some mutual exemption”.

It is to be noted that beginning from 28 May Georgian citizens will be allowed to visit and stay in China for 30 days in a single stay without visa. The agreement to provide the mutual exemption is a reflection of the strong bilateral relation existing between both countries. This agreement will further strengthen the diplomatic relations which will play a crucial role in the enhanced economic cooperation as well.

On this occasion, the parties further discuss the measures that need to be introduced to boost cooperation in political, economic, tourism, and cultural-humanitarian fields between the Republic of Georgia and people in the Republic of China.

Both sides during the meeting expressed hopes that “The utilization of the existing opportunities between both the sides will cement the  people-to-people contacts and deepen the of mutually beneficial cooperation, tourism, cultural and trade-economic ties.”

Notably on February 26, Prime Minister of Georgia  Irakli Kobakhidze during a cabinet meeting announced this significant     development which   was received with huge appreciation by all the sections of the country. During the same   meeting Georgian     PM termed the agreement a historical decision for strengthening the  bilateral cooperation   between both countries.

Moreover the economy minister and vice prime minister in February expressed hopes that the decision will take the practical shape soon. They also announce that the Chinese citizens will   have the same benefits as the Georgians in China.
