Tbilisi: The lecture series on ‘’Career Path in Social Entrepreneurship,’’ which was held from April 12 to May 31 at SEU (Georgian National University) has ended. Liana Apakidze hosted the series.
Liana Apakidze is the head of the Career Development and Alumni Relations Office and was an invited lecturer. The students from different backgrounds attended the lecture series to learn the details of the topic from the field experts.
Many topics were discussed during this long series of lectures. Some of the main topics that were discussed during these days included social enterprises and importance of distinguishing a social enterprise from the other models of business as well.
Similarly the topic of a social enterprise’s business model along with the instruments of entrepreneurial thinking, Team structure, Disc model, Peculiarities of a social entrepreneur, and five principles of entrepreneurial thinking, was also touched upon during the lecture series.
On the other hand the experts also explain in detail the different stages of creating a social enterprise some of which are necessary to implement according to the business’s varying models.
It is to be specifically mentionnd that the lecture series was held within the framework of the project ‘’Building Social Entrepreneurship’’ of ‘’Junior Achievement Georgia’’. This project in Georgia is being implemented with the active support of the EU4Youth program(Europan Union Youth Program).
The participating students of the event on this occasion examined the idea of a social enterprise and evaluated the different available opportunities and how to use these opportunities to create a successful social enterprise model.
The students also learned how to analyze a social problem that may hinder the progress of establishing social enterprises and how to draft a plan for the initial stages of a social enterprise.
The experts said that a pre-accelerator program will be implemented for students interested in creating social enterprises. Under this program technical support, incubation, and opportunity strengthening will be provided as well.
