Georgian army receives BMC VURAN vehicle from Turkey

The defense forces of Georgia have received Turkey-made “BMC VURAN” vehicles from Turkey. The handing-over ceremony took place at the Vaziani military base of Georgia in the presence of the Georgian deputy defence minister and  officials from Both sides.

The Republic of Georgia received these new armed vehicle under the terms and conditions of the agreement signed with the Turkish side. These newly received    VURAN armored  vehicles  have been designed according to NATO(North Antalantic Treaty Organisation) standards.

 

An impressive ceremony of handing over the off-road armored vehicles was held at the 4th Infantry Brigade’s training ground in Vaziani. It must be noted that the event was attended by Deputy Minister of Defense Sergo Janelidze along with Deputy Commander of the Defense Forces, Brigadier General Irakli Chichinadze, Commander of Logistics, Brigadier General Kakha Tabatadze, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia Ali Kaan Orbay and Defense Attache.

 

Similarly  the General Manager of the company “ASFAT”( a Turkish state-owned defense contractor) under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey came to Georgia to attend the event.  As mentioned above, the newly inducted armored vehicles   VURAN are equipped with the latest techniques and designs according to NATO standards.

During his address on occasion  Deputy Minister of Defense Sergo Janelidze  stated that “Equipping the Defense Forces of Georgia with the upgrade and latest  armored vehicles will significantly contribute to the strengthening of Georgia’s defense capabilities and the deepening of cooperation between Turkey and Georgia.”

 

Deputy Minister of Defense Sergo Janelidze  extended his gratitude to Turkey for providing the latest designed armored vehicles to the Georgian defense forces, which will strengthen Georgia’s combating capabilities from many angles.  The vehicles are also equipped with an up-to-date communication system. The Ministry of Defence of Georgia shared this development on its official Facebook page.

 

The social media user  while reacting to the Facebook post  also appreciated the efforts of the defense ministry to modernize the defense forces and extended best wishes to the members of the defense forces.
