The prominent Non-governmental Organisation of Georgia, the Educational Development and Employment Centre , has shared the concerns of rural areas expressed by students. A school student expressed concern regarding the problems of people living in rural areas.
Ani is the student of Tsutsukhati public school Ani. She thinks that young people living in rural areas have many problems and the general meeting of the settlement is an event that young people must attend to solve these problems.
According to Ani ” The young people living in the countryside try to continue their lives in the city or abroad because there are fewer opportunities in the countryside which creates many problems for them to succeed. It is this factor that determines their outflow from the rural areas to the urban areas as well.”
She further underlined that “If we create opportunities locally we can unlock the potential of our rural youth, motivating them to use their resources to develop their hometowns and create employment opportunities for the future generation.”
According to Ani the importance of job creation in rural areas cannot be overstated. This is not just important for us but also for the youth. It will create the opportunities we are currently seeking elsewhere right in our own communities.
It is worth noting that the general assembly of the settlement showed that such gatherings give every citizen the feeling that he as an individual makes an important contribution to the process of successfully solving problems in the community.
It is to be added that the central government has launched many initiatives in the direction of the upliftment of rural areas. However, there are still many areas where there is a lack of job opportunities which has caused a high-level outflow of people from rural areas to urban areas as well.
Many non-government organizations and civil society organizations are also working in coordination with Government agencies. The NGO’s education development and employment centre also shares this information on its social media handles. Social media users also appreciated student Ani’s thinking. They called the other students to get motivation from Ani’s struggle as well.
