The representative of the NGO called citizens to oppose excessive use of power by members of Georgian police and other law enforcement agencies.
It is worth to note that Georgia’s ruling party Georgian Dream have decided to suspend ongoing talks of integration into European Union. Since the day Georgian Dream gave its decision in this regard large number of people have taken to streets. They are holding protests rallies to oppose this move as well.
According to protesters the Georgian Dream have taken this decision under undue influence of Russia. They also blamed Georgian current Government for allowing unnecessary Russian influence over foreign policy of Georgia.
In a statement in this regard, NGO official that this is very unfortunate that all the state agencies have failed to protect rights of citizens. They further said that this is not the first time when state machinery failed to protect rights of citizens.
They said at a time when all higher office and government agencies almost refused to perform their responsibility , then it became a duty of civil society. Now there in Georgia also civil society must perform this task so that democracy and human rights of citizens can be protected.
NGO member while speaking further assured member of public that they are with them. Moreover, everyone who want to come forward, his name will be kept secret, and any information will be used as per the consent.
