Rustavi, Georgia: A working meeting of the Legal Affairs Committee of the National Association of Local Self-Governments of Georgia was held in Rustavi on Friday, April 11, 2025.
The Mayor of Rustavi shared glimpses of the working meeting on its official Facebook page on April 14, 225, Monday. She also posted a small note about the meeting along with the snippets of the meeting.
According to the information shared by the Rustavi Mayor, it was concluded that the meeting was organized by the National Association of Local Self-Governments of Georgia. The meeting was very interesting as in the meeting they discussed the changes that should be implemented in self-government from the legislative point of view.
It should be noted that the meeting organized by ATEA was held with the support of Rustavi City Hall. The working meeting was attended by various Georgian Ministers:
- the Mayor of Rustavi Nino Latsabidze,
- the Executive Director of ATEA,
- the Member of Tbilisi City Council Nino Rukhadze,
- the Member of the Association,
- the Member of Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee of the Parliament of Georgia Vladimir Bozhadze,
- the Deputy Mayor of Rustavi,
- Mayors of Lower Kartli, Kakheti, Imereti and Mtskheta-Mtianeti Municipalities
- Rustavi City Council
- the chairman of Rustavi City Council, Nodar Sherozia
The mayor Nino Lisabidze noted that this Committee shall review and evaluate draft legal acts prepared by government bodies and, if necessary, make relevant recommendations. It was for this purpose that a memorandum of memorandum was signed between the ATEA and the Georgian Parliament.
It is worth noting that, in the National Association of Self-Governments, the Legal Issues Committee was formed. The purpose of the committee is to actively engage local governments in legislative processes and protect the interests of municipalities.
Notably, the challenges in the municipalities, solutions to them, and the legislative acts that will promote self-government and decentralization process were also discussed during the meeting.
In addition, it should be noted that the changes discussed in the working meeting aim to implement innovations and implement reforms that will make the functioning of municipalities even more efficient.
