Tbilisi: The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Nino Tsilosani met with the members of the Latvian Parliament (Saeima) cooperation group.
Notably at the meeting the parties reviewed the directions of cooperation between the two countries and evaluated the steps taken in terms of the European integration of Georgia. The Latvia side congratulated the Georgian delegation for the grant of candidate status to Georgia by the European council.
At the same time Latvia also expressed the willingness to share the best experiences with Georgia for the establishment of good relations in the future as well.
Nino Tsilosani stated on this occasion ” I talked with the parliamentary delegation of Latvia about the most important aspects of our country’s development and other bilateral issues. We also discussed and talked about the process of integration with the European Union shortly, the reforms related to the status of the candidate, as well as the economic progress of the Republic of Georgia. Moreover, It was noted at the meeting that despite the difficult geopolitical situation and regional challenges Georgia maintains a calm and stable development process as per the latest development as well”.
He also said, “ It should be noted that Latvia and the country’s parliamentary delegation have a special friendly attitude towards our country and at today’s meeting we once again received messages of support for Georgia from their side (Latvia)”.
On the other hand Beka Odisharia the head of the friendship group with the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia attended the meeting of the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and the parliamentary delegation of Latvia in the Parliament of Georgia.
Both sides also discussed the future of bilateral relations. The impact of the full-fledged membership to Georgia by the European Union was also discussed at the meeting by both sides with a special focus on defense cooperation.
